2022 5th International Symposium on Autonomous Systems (ISAS 2022) was successfully held online from April 9 to 10, 2022, organized both by the Hangzhou Innovation Institute of Beihang University and Chongqing University. The conference was sponsored by IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS), IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES), Technical Committee on Guidance, Navigation and Control of Chinese Association of Automation, Technical Committee on Trusted Control System of Chinese Association of Automation, State Key Laboratory of Synthetical Automation for Process Industries, Northeastern University and Pengcheng Laboratory. ISAS aims to provide an exchange platform for research in autonomous systems, artificial intelligence, automation, robotics and other related fields, showcase cutting-edge achievements internationally, promote cooperation and exchange of scholars in this field and related disciplines, and push the close combination of theoretical research and engineering application. The conference is co-chaired by Prof. Lei Guo from Beihang University, Prof. Youmin Zhang from Concordia University and Prof. Yongduan Song from Chongqing University.

On the morning of April 9, 2022, under the chairmanship of Prof. Youmin Zhang, the conference was addressed by experts including Prof. Frank L. Lewis (Honorary Chair) from the University of Texas at Arlington, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering Tianyou Chai (Honorary Chair) from Northeastern University, Prof. Huijun Gao (Representative of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society) from Harbin Institute of Technology, Prof. Yuan Deng (Representative of the Organizers) from Hangzhou Innovation Institute of Beihang University, Prof. Guo Lei (Representative of Technical Committee on Guidance, Navigation and Control of Chinese Association of Automation) from Beihang University and Prof. Yongduan Song from Chongqing University (Representative of Technical Committee on Trusted Control System of Chinese Association of Automation), among other experts. The ISAS conference was officially held.

The two-day conference program ended in the afternoon of April 10, 2022. As the host of the closing ceremony of the conference, Prof. Youmin Zhang expressed his gratitude to the presenters for their participation and wonderful presentations, and thanked all the experts, scholars and conference volunteers for their great support and hard work. Prof. Xiang Yu announced the best paper nomination award and the best paper award of the conference, and warmly congratulated the authors.
